Hello and thank you for visiting. I created this channel to share my private home recording studio with those who are interested in recording and mixing. I enjoy networking and sharing ideas because I am always striving to learn, and I don't mind sharing what I have learned throughout the years.
I have a deep passion for gear, and I find the combination of analog and digital to be the most satisfying. If you appreciate my videos, please click the like button to show your support and interest in seeing more. Additionally, consider subscribing to receive notifications whenever I upload new videos.
Thank you.

Summing Mixer vs Console, Mixing Analog Tape Tracks @RiotHomeRecording The console mix is the exact mix from the last video. The api mix is the ITB processing from the last video, but I used digital plug in compression & Eq in place of the analog hardware compression & Eq. Many people say that plug in processing caught up with hardware. Everyone can decide for themselves. Summing & Console comp...

Wow, I have a 1972 Allen & Heath Mod3 mixing desk, everything working, I would love to recap it and install io transformers to lift and balance all the line level segments because they are presently all unbalanced -10dB, I think it would then be a real colourful tracking desk then a wonderful vintage summing desk
lol. Guitar player gets 6 tracks, as many as the drums, singer, ya get one.
I would have thought using urethane adhesive or aliphatic resin but what ever works i guess . nice job
Appreciate that you acknowledge the importance of sharing knowledge as a means to preservation. So much knowledge should not be kept behind closed doors, and you're making an intentional choice to share. So cool!
Your cauls need to have cork on them to really protect the guitar.
Seems luke he never did it before. It's the worst glue job I ever saw
@@jessefagundes6965 I’m glad you learned something! You’re welcome! The guitar is still going strong I play it all the time and it sounds great! Well worth $650.
At band practice three weeks ago I bumped my Les Paul Studio off its guitar stand. It fell flat down on the strings and the headstock snapped nearly identically to this. I might’ve cried, I’m not certain, it’s all just a terrible blur in my memory. Eventually my futile panic turned to a low-grade depression, where I’ve been since. I was worried that a repair would be beyond my abilities, but after watching this I feel like I can probably manage it. I’m gonna give it a shot, I’ll report back. Thanks for the video, and great job. (Btw, I still want to record my band’s album with you, at your studio, even though it would require a road trip. That board and those tape machines…)
@@seanmcdonald4686 Thank you! And Please report back!!!
This sounds Fantastic !!
Hey there, great tones! Which one would you say has the best master volume for quiet playing? And do you feel the 20w is lacking anything in comparison to the 100w? Thanks !
That dynamite sounds gooood. I like the DBX too
In the box is the best!
Interesting comparison. What kind of console is that? Also what summing mixer did you use?

Vaseline can be an effective glue barrier as well. Nice job ! I made a similar repair to an acoustic guitar and used your techniques. It is invisible and plays great. I ignored the negative criticism because what you did actually worked for me and you kept it simple.
@@dancloninger5117 Great to hear, I play mine all the time and have no issues. I don’t even think about it I just play it.
Thanks for making this video. Good job on that repair 👏. Looks good! Nice studio too man😃🤙
Ack when people had to play clean cuz the track editing was 100% destructive.
hi i know tape like amp 499 is getting old so are the tape decks i have some 2 inch deck i find it down to the make of tape basf are not to bad only the box they put the tapes in are now coming apart it's hard to find new 2 inch boxes in the eu i bet it hard to get track from a not pro 24 track say a soundcraft 760 - 16 track i have alot of the not pro decks i have a otari mx 80 the 90 would not get in side my front door i have a otari mtr 12 1/2 1/4 to play back master tapes zonal they are still ok
Excellent demonstration. I wish I had a nickel for every MCI, Studer, and Ampex machine I have calibrated over the years.
how does this compare to the audioscape? what year were they made?
I have another video up where I compare audioscape to an original vintage Pultec. You should check that video out.
love this viieo
I’m glad you were able to fix your guitar, but I’m wondering why you start out the video presenting yourself as someone with experience doing this repair? You talk about the different cracks. That can happen, and how this time it’s this way? You’ve never seen this kind of damage before, yet you make statements implying you have previous experience. You even say “ I also use a business card” as if you do this on the reg. I’m glad you were able to copy a repair you saw in a video. That does not make you a repair expert. If you had simply presented as a person trying this for the first time that would be different. You are basically a bullshitter.
Then, same tip about straplocks also for other models like, SG, Explorer, ES,Flying V and so, I guess.
And there are guys like me who want to dive into analog so much but it just doesn’t make sense financially, at least for now.
Man, your channel is badass. Thanks for taking the time to make these videos. I've learned a lot. Wish you were closer to Dallas...we'd track with you right now. We keep getting screwed by studios here.
Love the D190......I've got 6 of 'em and they're a good, solid all rounder. Sound good on acoustic guitar too, if you find the sweet spot.
my favorite was when it was just the console
Tape just sounds so much more organic than digital... So much better
Да Аналог лучше цифрового звучания Чистяк !!!
Omg is this guy going to talk all day.
What was the final cost?
Hi , great vid , so which and where are the resistors to cut as my cat 22 boards dont have numbers on them
there are tons of pictures on the internet showing what are the resistors. I've modded mine that way :) But there's a lot more mods to do for make it even nicer!!!
I don’t think those are arrows, I believe they are high pass and low pass filter/eq curve icons
Nice repair job man!
Thank you!
OMG!!! You've got an MCI JH 428 console, at least I think that's what it is. I worked on the original generation of that console... the JH 416... that was black in finish and had illuminated fader graduals! These consoles cut a LOT of hits in their day. If you re-cap them you can make them sound much better... and if you can change out the opamps from the original ones to NE 5534s you'll have a very musical sound.
I love many records that have been done on MCIs, I'd love to have one when I can finally get decent studio space. He probably had it recapped, it's common practice these days, don't know about the opamps but that's cool information!
@@goyolake The opamps that were used back then didn't have the slew rate (speed) that newer ones have, so replacing them would be a very good idea. However, recapping and cleaning the switches would be a TRUE benefit for sure. Dave Harrison designed the 400 series console and did a remarkably wonderful job in bringing it to life. Cheers!
What an awesome channel thanks for the updates
Recently I got a pair of it and it sounds amazing!
Recently I got a pair of it and it sound amazing!
This should be a felony to even try an compare ANY EQ clone to ANY Pultecs !!!! I dreamed my whole life to one day obtain an original Pulse Techniques EQ. I purchased a EQP-500A in 2016 and it is my Exclusive EQ in my Studio. If it's not an original Pulse techniques EQ you are fooling yourself like you are on Fantasy Island with tattoo and Mr Rouke and imagining that any other EQ clone can skund exactly just like an Original Pulse techniques EQ. STOP IT !!! Its pure Phuckery !!!!
Little Sister sounds better in every aspect, record ready. The Marshall def needs a tube screamer and lots of pre-EQ.
pr efer the console mix. sounds wider, clearer
hello sir, how much do you charge per mix?
Cool stuff check gods word this make me feel like a real Studio like 1980 vibes
Imagine all of those equipments are accessible with the use of a DAW just add your preferred plug ins. How advanced our technology 😮
Not the same. I do all in DAW but if I had a choice it would be tape 100 percent
@@Prettynoise yes, I know. And for me the music produced using those machines are way more sounds better and professional.
Those plugins don't sound as good.. they sound fine and similar. but not as good..
Steve love you videos. I’m an analog diehard. Who is the band and the song. Did they ever release it.
Do you have favorite settings for drum buss? Old or new? Thrust, knee
This has got to be the best video on recording I have watched. I always loved the analog sound and process. Well done !
For my taste ... perfect!
